Dear member

2014 saw us celebrating our 150th anniversary, ending with a celebratory evening at the Celtic Arms. I would like to thank everyone who helped organise events throughout the year and of course everyone for their attendance to make these events so successful.

2014 saw our 1st team back in division 1 and the squad went into the season full of confidence that they would make a quick return to the premier league and they did not disappoint. An excellent season saw us coming runners up to Denbigh. There were some tremendous performances by the players, a few I would like to mention. Darren Williams became our first player to record a century on our new scoreboard and won £100 for his effort whilst Harry Lewis and Alex Gill had an opening stand of 266 which we believe to be a club record. Finally Alex Gill won the Division 1 batting award.

The 2nd team did very well with another youthful side and had a good mid table finish. It is a joy to watch our 2nd XI and to see how the youngsters are progressing.

The 3rd team entered the 3rd XI Sunday league in 2014 finishing in 3rd position. The 3rds are indeed a very young side with 1 or 2 senior players to help and advise the youth. After playing a few games myself I can honestly say it is a joy to watch the lads, not only playing the game but the way they conduct themselves during the game. They are a credit to both their parents and to our junior coaching team.

I am confident that all our teams will continue to progress during the coming season. I would like to thank all the players who represented the club last year and give special thanks to the captains and vice captains of each team. Also thanks to Paul Roberts for coaching the senor sides.

Our junior section goes from strength to strength and 2014 was another successful season. Many thanks to the parents for always making sure that the players turn up on time and in their club shirts and of course for their continued support. We would not have this success if it was not for the hard work and dedication of our superb coaching staff. Many thanks indeed to them.

Many thanks also to Anne Roberts and Gaz Jones for scoring and to those that helped with umpiring duties. Thanks also to the bar staff and to Phil and Mal for their continued hard work in preparing our ground for the games.

We are all now looking forward to the 2015 season and getting things underway on the 28th & 29th March at the NatWest Cricket Force when we prepare the club house and ground for the coming season.

Yours in Cricket

Mike Hughes
